WHAT'S IN THIS BUNDLE

HOW THE AUTOSET ALGORITHM WORKS

The AutoSet algorithm monitors breathing continuously by analyzing the shape of the inspiratory airflow waveform. A normal, unobstructed breath produces a rounded waveform. When the airway is partially obstructed, the waveform flattens — a condition called a flow limitation. The algorithm detects this flattening and increases delivered pressure until the event clears. Once the airway obstruction resolves, pressure decreases again to the lowest level that maintains an open airway. The machine operates between 4 and 20 cm H2O.

Three pressure modes are available and switchable through the AirMini App: CPAP delivers a fixed pressure set by the prescriber; AutoSet adjusts pressure continuously in response to detected flow limitations; and AutoSet For Her uses a modified detection algorithm tuned for breathing patterns more common in women. AutoSet For Her responds to flow limitations differently than standard AutoSet and is the appropriate mode for female patients whose prescriber has recommended it. Mode selection is made through the app — the machine itself has no screen or controls beyond a single button.

HOW THE AIRMINI HANDLES HUMIDIFICATION WITHOUT WATER — AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HUMIDX AND HUMIDX PLUS

HumidX is a Heat Moisture Exchanger — a passive filter disc that sits in the AirMini's proprietary short tube between the machine outlet and the mask. During exhalation, the disc captures moisture and warmth from the patient's breath. During the next inhalation, that captured moisture and warmth are returned to the incoming therapy air. No water chamber, no distilled water, and no heated tube is required. The humidification is powered entirely by the patient's own exhaled breath.

This bundle includes two HumidX filter types. HumidX Standard is designed for normal humidity climates and is the appropriate starting point for most patients. HumidX Plus contains a higher-density moisture-exchange medium that captures and returns more moisture per breath — it is designed for very dry climates where the Standard does not provide sufficient moisture. The patient uses whichever filter matches their environment. Both filters require replacement every 30 days after opening.

HumidX filters are only compatible with the P10 and N20 masks. They do not work with the F20, AirTouch F20, or F30 masks. The reason is physical: the HME disc must be a minimum distance from the patient's face to function correctly, because it needs sufficient airspace to complete the moisture exchange cycle between exhalation and the next inhalation. Full-face mask designs connect the tube at a point too close to the patient's face to provide that distance, which prevents the exchange from occurring.

EPR — WHAT EXPIRATORY PRESSURE RELIEF DOES

EPR detects the transition from inhalation to exhalation by monitoring airflow direction and reduces delivered pressure during the exhalation phase. At EPR level 1, pressure drops by 1 cm H2O during exhalation. At level 2, it drops by 2 cm H2O. At level 3, it drops by 3 cm H2O. At the start of the next inhalation, pressure ramps back up to the therapy level. EPR can also be turned off entirely. Level is set through the AirMini App.

The clinical effect is a breathing cycle that requires less effort against static pressure during exhalation. Patients who find it difficult or uncomfortable to exhale against a continuous fixed pressure — particularly at higher therapy settings — typically respond well to EPR. Higher EPR levels provide greater relief but reduce the net average pressure delivered, which is a consideration for patients at the boundary of their prescribed pressure range.

AUTORAMP AND SMARTSTART

AutoRamp delivers a low starting pressure when therapy is initiated, then increases pressure gradually once the machine detects that the patient has fallen asleep. Sleep onset detection monitors breathing patterns for the shift from wakefulness to sleep and triggers the pressure increase at that point. The ramp can be configured to a fixed duration, set to automatic sleep onset detection, or turned off entirely — all through the AirMini App. Patients who find that falling asleep against full therapy pressure is difficult are the typical AutoRamp candidates.

SmartStart begins therapy automatically when the patient breathes into the mask — no button press is required. If the mask is removed during the night, therapy stops automatically after a few seconds. If the mask is briefly removed and replaced, therapy restarts without any interaction from the patient. Patients who prefer manual control can start and stop therapy with the machine's button instead.

THE P10 NASAL PILLOW MASK AND AIRMINI ADAPTER

The P10 uses dual-wall nasal pillow cushions that insert into the base of each nostril. The inner wall contacts the nostril rim to form the seal; the outer wall provides structural shape and positioning around the nostril. Because the seal is made inside the nostril rather than around the outside of the nose, the P10 makes no contact with the nasal bridge, cheeks, forehead, or upper lip. This minimal contact area makes it well suited for side sleepers, patients with facial hair, and patients with sensitivity to enclosed or full-coverage masks.

The pillows are color-coded by size — Small, Medium, and Large — and each pillow is marked left and right for correct orientation. The size marking faces down when the pillow is correctly inserted. All three sizes are included in this bundle so the patient can identify which size seals correctly without having to order separately. Exhaled air exits through QuietAir woven-mesh venting integrated into the P10 frame, which disperses airflow broadly rather than releasing it as a directional stream.

The P10 cannot connect to the AirMini's proprietary short tube without the dedicated AirMini adapter. The standard P10 mask sold for use with a conventional CPAP machine has a different tube interface and is not directly compatible with the AirMini. The adapter included in this setup pack bridges the P10 to the AirMini tube. Without it, the mask cannot be used with this machine.

WHICH OTHER MASKS WORK WITH THE AIRMINI

The AirMini is compatible with five masks in total: the AirFit P10 (included in this bundle), the AirFit N20 nasal mask, the AirFit F20 full-face mask, the AirTouch F20 full-face mask, and the AirFit F30 full-face mask. Each mask requires its own dedicated setup pack — the mask alone is not sufficient to connect to the AirMini. The setup pack provides the mask-specific adapter and AirMini tube connector for that mask. Patients who already own one of the compatible masks but switch to the AirMini will need to purchase the correct setup pack for their mask separately.

HumidX waterless humidification works only with the P10 and N20. It does not work with the F20, AirTouch F20, or F30. Patients using a full-face mask with the AirMini do not have access to waterless humidification on this machine.

THE AIRMINI APP AND BLUETOOTH

The free AirMini App for iOS and Android connects to the machine via Bluetooth. All comfort settings are configured through the app — the machine itself has only a single button and no display. Through the app the patient can switch between pressure modes (CPAP, AutoSet, AutoSet For Her), set EPR level, configure AutoRamp duration or turn it off, and enable or disable SmartStart. The app displays a sleep score each morning derived from the previous night's therapy data and stores up to 30 days of sleep data for review. Therapy data syncs to the app wirelessly each morning.

SIZE, WEIGHT, AND NOISE

The AirMini measures 136 mm × 84 mm × 52 mm (5.4 × 3.3 × 2.1 inches) and weighs 10.6 ounces (0.66 lbs) without the humidifier. It operates at 30 dBA — a level commonly compared to a quiet whisper at close range. Power input is 100–240V, 50–60Hz, making it compatible with international power standards without a separate converter. The machine adjusts automatically for altitude up to a maximum operating altitude of 8,500 feet (2,591 meters). It is FAA compliant for in-flight use.

PRESCRIPTION REQUIREMENT — WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE THIS ORDER SHIPS

The prescription must include the prescribing physician's name, contact information, and signature; the patient's name; and a statement of the equipment needed — for example, "CPAP" or "APAP." A prescription for a standard fixed-pressure CPAP must also include the prescribed pressure setting. Prescriptions can be handwritten on a standard prescription pad. A prescription can often be obtained from a primary care physician — if your doctor has a record of your sleep study or is aware that you use CPAP therapy, they can generally issue one without requiring a specialist referral.
