Overview

This is the power supply ResMed designed for the AirMini, sold as a separate unit. As a second supply, it lets the one at home stay plugged in while a spare waits in the travel bag, ready to go as soon as the trip is booked.

Because it accepts mains power from most of the world, it's an easy thing to travel with. A plug adapter usually does the job abroad, so one supply covers home and hotels overseas, and ResMed rates it for aircraft power systems as well as the wall.

Key features:

  • Made by ResMed: ResMed's own supply for the AirMini, listed in its guide for every AirMini mask pack, including the HumidX setups.
  • Global voltage: It takes household power from Canada to Europe and Asia, so a plug adapter usually replaces a voltage converter.
  • Rated for aircraft power: Its specifications include a separate input rating for aircraft systems, so check with your airline about using seat power.
  • Keyed connector: The plug is shaped to enter the AirMini only the right way up, even when you're setting up in the dark.
  • Status light: A green light on the supply confirms power is reaching it, which makes a quick check easy when therapy won't start.
  • Picks up after outages: If the power drops during the night, the AirMini restarts therapy by itself once power comes back.

If you take your AirMini on the road or simply want a spare ready before you need one, this is the supply ResMed specifies for the job. The AirMini has no battery, so a working supply is what keeps your therapy going every night.

How it works

Connecting it

Push the angled end of the cable into the power inlet on the AirMini, then plug the supply into the wall. Check that the green light on the supply comes on before you press Start/Stop.

Where to put it

Keep the supply out in the open, not under pillows, bedding or clothes, and away from heaters. Check the cord and plug for wear now and then, and replace the supply if either looks damaged.

Spills and drops

Never put the supply or its cord in water. If liquid gets on it, unplug it and let it dry fully before you plug it back in. If it's dropped or the case cracks, stop using it, since none of its parts can be repaired at home.

Features and use

Plugging in and power cuts

The cable end is shaped to enter the AirMini's power inlet one way only, which helps when you're setting up in a dim hotel room. If the power drops overnight, the AirMini resumes therapy by itself once it returns.

  • Keep the cord clear of heaters and hot surfaces
  • Leave the supply uncovered, never under pillows or bedding
Using it outside Canada

The supply takes anything from 100 to 240 volts, so the socket shape is usually the only thing that changes from country to country. ResMed also makes European, UK and South African versions with their own plugs, and this one is the North American unit.

  • Pack a plug adapter for each country you visit
  • Buy the regional version if you'll live abroad
On board a flight

ResMed's guide walks you through using the AirMini in flight. Switch the machine to airplane mode by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button until it glows white, then start therapy with the Start/Stop button rather than the app.

  • Ask whether your airline exempts medical equipment from the cabin bag allowance
  • Ask your airline about seat power before you book
Machines and setups covered

The AirMini is the only machine ResMed names in its documents for this unit. It powers the AirMini whichever mask pack you use, since the HumidX humidifier has no electrical connection of its own.

  • AirMini with the P10, N30, N20, F20 or F30 pack
  • Not for USB ports or USB chargers, which ResMed warns can damage either device

Second supply

This is ResMed's own power supply for the AirMini, sold on its own. Leave one plugged in by the bed and keep another in your travel bag, so packing never starts with unplugging.

Worldwide mains

It accepts household power in most countries, from North America to Europe and Asia. A simple plug adapter usually covers a trip abroad, with no heavy voltage converter to carry.

Aircraft rating

Alongside wall power, ResMed rates it for aircraft power systems too. Where your seat has a suitable outlet, the same supply can run the AirMini in the cabin.

Status light

A green light on the supply shows that power is reaching it. When therapy won't start, it's a quick way to see whether power is getting through before you look at the machine.

Common questions

Will this power my AirMini with my mask setup?

Yes. ResMed specifies the same power supply for the AirMini whichever pack you use, whether that's the P10, N30, N20, F20 or F30. The HumidX inserts add moisture without drawing power, so they don't change what you need.

Do I need a voltage converter when I travel?

Usually not. The supply accepts mains power from 100 to 240 volts, which covers most countries, so a plug adapter for the local socket is normally enough. If you're unsure about a destination, check its mains voltage before you go.

Is there a battery inside the AirMini?

No. ResMed says the AirMini has no battery and needs a power source to run. For a car or boat, ResMed makes a DC converter. Medistrom's Pilot Flex battery lists the AirMini and ships with its cables, though Medistrom notes this supply can only charge that battery, not run the AirMini through it during an outage.

Can I use this supply on an airplane?

This supply carries its own ResMed rating for aircraft power. ResMed doesn't say which seat outlets suit it, so confirm seat power with your airline and put the machine in airplane mode before you start.

Can I use it with a different CPAP machine?

We don't recommend it. ResMed lists this supply for the AirMini only, and it advises against power accessories it hasn't specified for a machine. It also warns never to connect the supply to a USB device, since that can damage both.

What should I check if my AirMini won't start?

Start with the plug. ResMed says to make sure the cable is pushed fully into the machine and the green light on the supply is on, then look for the light above the Start/Stop button. If the supply was dropped or its case is cracked, stop using it.
