How it works
Fitting the mask
Hook one headgear clip onto the frame, then hold the frame in one hand and the headgear in the other. Rest the seal on your face, guide the headgear over your head and hook on the second clip. Set the top strap first, then the middle and lower straps, only as far as it takes to stop leaks.
The forehead straps should sit level, just above your ears. F&P's check for a good fit: you should be able to pull the mask slightly away from your mouth without loosening a strap or unhooking a clip.
Daily and weekly cleaning
After each use, take the mask apart and wash everything except the headgear in lukewarm, soapy water, soaking for no longer than ten minutes. Rinse well and let the parts air-dry away from direct sunlight.
Wash the headgear by hand after a week of use, with the clips and buckle left on. F&P warns against alcohol, bleach, antibacterial cleaners, moisturizer and the dishwasher, all of which can shorten the mask's life.

Stability panels and fit checks
F&P says the stability panels built into the sides of the seal enhance the seal. Once you're wearing it, the check is simple: you should be able to pull the mask away from your mouth without loosening the straps or unhooking the clips.

An adjustable crown strap adds stability across the top of your head. Velcro tabs and Easy-Clip hooks make the headgear quick to fit and quick to remove, and F&P says a first fit takes only three adjustments.

Common questions
How often should I replace the Simplus parts?
F&P's replacement schedule suggests a new frame about every three months and new headgear about every six. The seal is on a shorter cycle than either, so replace it as soon as it leaks constantly, discolours or tears. Check each part before use and replace anything cracked.
Which Simplus size should I order?
Print F&P's Simplus sizing guide at full scale, check its ruler against a real one, then cut it out and hold it to your face to find your seal size. If you're between sizes, the FitPack comes with Small, Medium and Large seals.
Can I sleep on my side in the Simplus?
Yes. F&P designed the headgear to settle high at the back of the head, which lets you move side to side or up and down without knocking the mask loose. The RollFit seal adjusts as you move.
What warranty does F&P give on the Simplus?
Fisher & Paykel covers the Simplus for 90 days from the date you buy it, against defects in workmanship and materials. Damage from an accident, misuse or not following the care instructions isn't covered.
