DreamWear Nasal Mask FitPack — Start Here If You're New to DreamWear

The FitPack is for patients who don't yet know their DreamWear cushion size — which, if you're buying this mask for the first time, is almost certainly you. It includes one Medium frame, one set of headgear, and all four cushion sizes (Small, Medium, Large, and Medium Wide), so you can find your correct fit at home before committing to a single cushion for future replacements.

Already know your frame and cushion size from a previous DreamWear mask or clinic fitting? Order your exact combination here for a lower price.

WHY DREAMWEAR SIZING REQUIRES TWO SEPARATE MEASUREMENTS

The DreamWear Nasal mask has two independent sizing dimensions, and they don't predict each other. The frame — the soft silicone tube that wraps around your face and connects to the headgear — comes in Small, Medium, and Large based on overall face length and head width. The cushion — the under-the-nose piece that actually seals against your nostrils — comes in Small, Medium, Large, and Medium Wide based on the width and height of your nostril base.

A patient with a Large frame might wear a Small cushion. A patient with a Small frame might wear a Medium Wide cushion. Both dimensions need to be determined independently. The FitPack solves the cushion question by including all four options. The frame question is addressed below.

THE MEDIUM FRAME FITS ALMOST EVERYONE — HERE'S WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT YOURS

The FitPack ships with a Medium frame only. Based on our experience, the Medium frame fits approximately 95% of patients, so if you're unsure of your frame size, ordering the FitPack is a reasonable starting point for most people.

The exceptions: if you've previously been fitted and confirmed you need a Small or Large frame, this pack won't solve that for you. In that case, the single-size listing lets you choose your exact frame and cushion combination.

Frame size is determined by overall face length — specifically, the distance between forehead and chin and the width across the head where the headgear arms rest. If the Medium frame feels like it's pulling the cushion upward or letting it sag, that's a fit signal worth addressing before your next order.

HOW THE CUSHION GAUGE WORKS — AND HOW TO FIND YOURS

Finding the right cushion size requires measuring the base of your nose, not estimating by feel. Philips provides a sizing gauge (part 1116752) — a small plastic card with die-cut openings for each cushion size. You hold it to your nose to find which opening fits the base of your nostrils without pressing up into the nose itself. A printable PDF version of this gauge produces an accurate result if printed at full scale.

The FitPack makes the gauge optional: because all four cushions are in the box, you can trial each size during setup and identify the one that seals properly without upward pressure on the nostrils or gaps at the sides. Whichever cushion gives you a clean seal without leaks is your size — and you'll know exactly what to reorder when it wears out.

THE FRAME IS A LONG-TERM COMPONENT. THE CUSHION IS THE CONSUMABLE.

The cushion clips into the frame via a standard connection point that's the same across all three frame sizes — a Small cushion clips into a Large frame just as easily as a Medium. This matters for two reasons: first, you don't need to replace the entire mask when a cushion wears out; second, the same frame works if you later want to try the DreamWear Full Face cushion or the DreamWear Silicone Pillow cushion, which use the same connection.

Philips recommends replacing the nasal cushion every six months. The FitPack gives you a full set of replacement cushions once you've identified your correct size — so the cushions you don't use at first become your supply for the next replacement cycle.

HOW AIRFLOW MOVES THROUGH THE MASK

Unlike conventional nasal masks that attach the hose at the front of the face, DreamWear routes therapy air through the soft silicone frame itself. Two channels run from the hose connection at the top of the head, down through the frame arms, and meet at the cushion beneath the nose. This keeps the front of your face free of hoses and hardware, and it's what makes the mask as open as it is — there's nothing bridging your nose, no forehead pad, and no hose swinging in front of your face.

The cushion sits below the nostrils and seals against the base of the nose, not inside it. Therapy air flows up into both nostrils from beneath, which distributes pressure differently from nasal pillows (which insert into the nostril) and from traditional nasal masks (which seal over the entire nose). If you've had discomfort on the nasal bridge or inside the nostrils with other masks, this geometry is the reason patients typically switch to DreamWear.

HEADGEAR AND TUBING ATTACHMENT

The included headgear uses a single soft strap that rests at the back of the head, with semi-rigid arms extending forward to hold the frame in position. The arms are designed to stabilize the mask without requiring the headgear to be overtightened — the mask stays in place through geometry rather than pressure. The hose elbow at the top of the head swivels 360 degrees, which lets the hose fall freely behind you rather than dragging across the pillow when you turn over during the night.
