Overview

For sleepers keeping their AirFit F30, this is ResMed's own headgear for the mask, so the fit you rely on stays exactly as it was. Fresh straps let the small under-nose cushion seal with a light pull instead of a hard one.

It's ResMed part 64161, in one size for the F30's single frame and both cushion sizes. Magnetic clips come on the lower straps. It's sold as headgear alone, without a frame, cushion, or elbow.

Key features:

  • Same part as day one: This is the headgear ResMed packed with every complete F30 system, so nothing about the fit changes when you swap.
  • Clips stay put: The clips remain on the lower straps whenever the headgear comes off, so nothing small goes missing between uses.
  • Tube in front: The F30's hose meets an elbow at the front of the frame, leaving the headgear to hold the cushion square under your nose.
  • Made without latex: ResMed lists the F30 headgear as not made from latex, and the mask as free of PVC and phthalates such as DEHP.
  • Magnet warning: The clips and frame hold magnets, so ResMed asks anyone with certain implants, or a bed partner with one, to read its warning first.

It suits F30 wearers who want to keep the mask they know rather than start fresh with a new design and a new fitting. If the cushion now needs harder pulling to seal, the straps are usually what has worn out first.

Note: This headgear is only for the AirFit F30. The F30i looks close but takes a different part, 63372, so check where your hose connects before ordering.

How it works

Putting on the new headgear

Fit the upper straps into the frame from the inside, logo facing out and up, and fold each fastening tab over. With the cushion resting below your nose, stretch the straps over the crown of your head and guide the lower straps under your ears to clip onto the frame.

Fine-tuning the fit

Turn the machine on so air is flowing. Open the upper tabs and pull both sides evenly, then repeat with the lower straps. If the headgear crowds your ear, adjust the top strap, and check that no strap is twisted.

Taking it off

Twist and pull both clips off the frame, then draw the mask forward and back over your head. For the weekly wash, open the upper tabs and slide those straps out of the frame, leaving the clips where they are.

Everything you need to know about the ResMed AirFit F30 Headgear

Keeps your F30 fitting

If the AirFit F30 is the mask that finally worked for you, fresh headgear is the simplest way to keep it working. The genuine ResMed part restores the gentle, even hold its small cushion needs to seal under your nose.

Stretch, leaks, and sore spots

ResMed names stretchy fabric and worn fastening tabs as the signs headgear is past its best, and both push you to tighten harder. Overtightening, ResMed cautions, can bring on skin redness or sores, and a new set takes away the need.

Three straps, three jobs

The upper and lower pairs set the seal, and the top strap moves the headgear clear of your ears. That lets you fix a leak or a pressure point without disturbing the rest of the fit.

Magnetic lower clips

The lower straps meet the frame with magnets, so the mask comes off with a twist and goes back on without rethreading.

Top strap adjusts

A separate top strap lets you lift the headgear away from your ears whenever it sits too close to them.

Fits every F30

One headgear suits the F30's single frame and both of its cushion sizes, so there's no headgear size to pick.

Foam-backed fabric

Nylon and elastane fabric over polyurethane foam gives the straps a soft, cushioned feel where they rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will F30i headgear fit my AirFit F30?

No. ResMed gives the F30 its own headgear, part 64161, while the F30i, AirTouch F30i, and X30i share a different one. The F30i Non-Magnetic and AirFit F40 take their own as well.

How do I tell an F30 from an F30i?

Look at where the hose connects. On the F30 it plugs into an elbow at the front of the frame, while the F30i takes it on top of your head. The mask name is also on the frame and its box.

How should I wash F30 headgear?

ResMed's F30 guide puts the headgear on a weekly wash: a soak in a basin of warm, gently soapy water, a gentle hand-wash, and a thorough rinse. Squeeze the water out and dry it out of the sun, clips still attached.

How long does F30 headgear last?

ResMed's schedule says every six months, though insurers may follow a different one. Swap it sooner once it turns stretchy or the tabs stop gripping, since old fabric can also hold sweat and irritate your skin.

Does the F30 work with an AirMini?

Yes, with ResMed's F30 setup pack, and it wears this same headgear there. The F30i, by contrast, is marked not compatible on ResMed's AirMini list.
