Its cushions are small silicone inserts that slide a short distance into each nostril and seal from inside, pressing outward against the nostril walls. This starter pack includes one SpringFit frame in your chosen size (Standard or Small), headgear, elbow, frame wraps, and nasal pillow cushions in all three sizes — Small, Medium, and Large — so you can identify the correct fit before committing to a single size for replacements. This page is for patients who have not worn the P30i before, or who need a new frame and headgear along with their cushions. Patients who already know their pillow size and need only replacements should order the AirFit P30i Pillows Cushion separately. Patients who have experienced nostril soreness from pillow masks, or who are prescribed higher therapy pressures, should see the AirFit N30i Starter Pack instead.

HOW NASAL PILLOW CUSHIONS WORK

The P30i cushions are small dome-shaped silicone inserts that slide a short distance into each nostril. The seal is made from inside the nose — each pillow presses outward against the nostril walls from within. The dual-wall construction gives a soft outer dome for comfortable insertion and a firmer inner wall that forms the actual sealing contact against the nostril interior. Therapy pressure from the machine is delivered directly into the airway from inside the nostrils. The contact footprint is minimal — nothing touches the upper lip, cheeks, nose bridge, or the tissue beneath the nostrils. For patients who find any contact above or below the nose claustrophobic, the P30i is the smallest functional interface available in a tube-up nasal mask.

HOW THIS DIFFERS FROM A NASAL CRADLE

A nasal cradle cushion curves under the base of the nose and seals from below, pressing upward against the tissue beneath the nostrils. A nasal pillow seals from inside, pressing outward against the nostril walls. The P30i never contacts the tissue beneath the nostrils or the nasal bridge — its entire sealing surface is inside the nostrils. Patients who have experienced pressure marks or soreness from masks that contact the bridge or cheeks will not experience those problems with the P30i. At lower to moderate therapy pressures the pillow interface performs reliably. At higher pressures — roughly 12–15 cm H₂O and above — the smaller intra-nostril contact area becomes harder to maintain against the outward force of the airflow, and some patients find headgear tension must increase to compensate. Patients with dense facial hair at the base of the nose benefit from the pillow interface because the contact point is inside the nostrils, above the hairline where nasal cradle cushions make contact. Patients who have experienced nostril rim soreness from pillow use, or who are prescribed higher therapy pressures, should consider the AirFit N30i Starter Pack, which uses a nasal cradle cushion that seals beneath the nostrils rather than inside them.

THE SPRINGFIT FRAME AND TOP-OF-HEAD TUBE

The SpringFit frame carries therapy air from the hose connection at the crown of the head down each side of the face to the pillow cushions. It is a hollow, flexible silicone tube that bends and adapts with head movement rather than holding a fixed geometry. The top-of-head connection means the hose position relative to the mask does not change when the patient rolls from back to side or side to stomach — the hose follows rather than pulling against the seal. The 360° swivel elbow at the crown allows the hose to trail in any direction. The quick-release elbow allows hose disconnection without removing the headgear.

QUIETAIR VENTING AND THE FRAME WRAPS

The QuietAir vent diffuses exhaled air at the pillow cushion and at the elbow — two diffusion points rather than one concentrated exit. This distributes exhaled airflow broadly, reducing noise and minimizing directed airflow toward a bed partner. Frame wraps are soft fabric sleeves that cover the SpringFit frame arms where they contact the face and hair, so fabric rather than bare silicone presses against the skin during sleep.

CHOOSING YOUR FRAME SIZE

Frame size — Standard or Small — is independent from pillow size. Standard fits the majority of patients. Small is for narrower faces and smaller head circumferences. If you have worn the P30i before and know your frame size, select it here. If you are unsure, Standard is the appropriate starting point.

FINDING YOUR PILLOW SIZE — WHAT'S INCLUDED AND WHY IT MATTERS

This starter pack includes all three pillow sizes — Small, Medium, and Large — so you can identify your correct fit before committing to a single size for future replacements. Pillow size is based on nostril opening diameter — the pillow must fill the opening enough to seal without causing discomfort or dislodging under pressure. A pillow that is too small fails to fill the nostril and leaks immediately. One that is too large causes discomfort and positional dislodgement. ResMed provides a printable sizing guide for the P30i. Because our return policy does not allow returns on opened mask products, the starter pack is the appropriate first purchase for any patient who has not worn this mask before.

ONCE YOU KNOW YOUR SIZE

Once you have confirmed your correct pillow size, future replacements should be ordered as single-size cushions rather than another starter pack. Replacement pillow cushions for the P30i are available separately: AirFit P30i Pillows Cushion. Order the size confirmed by your starter pack trial.

CLEANING AND REPLACEMENT

Clean the pillow cushions daily. Clean the frame, headgear, and elbow once a week. Replace the pillow cushions every one to three months. Replace the headgear approximately every six months. Replace the frame every six to twelve months or when the silicone arms lose flexibility.

AIRMINI COMPATIBILITY

The AirFit P30i is compatible with all standard CPAP and BiPAP machines.
